I CAN DO IT! THROUGH THE EYES OF AN AUTHOR
Picture this: You’re a self-empowerment author who is about to hold a book signing at a national event that features headlining luminaries such as Dr. Wayne Dyer and Cheryl Richardson, and gathers thousands upon thousands of inspiration-seeking attendees.
That was the scene for author Laurel Geise, who used her Balboa Press connection to schedule an I Can Do It! Book Signing. Recently Laurel chatted with us about her I Can Do It! Book Signing experience in Washington, D.C., plus gave us the inside scoop on her book, The Jesus Seeds: Igniting Your Soul-Guided Life.
Balboa Press: What were your expectations leading up to your ICDI signing?
Laurel Geise: Before the book signing, I was prepped by my Balboa Press Marketing Consultant. However, my vision of the experience paled in comparison to the actual book signing. I was nervous before the event, but there was no need to be. Everything was set up when I arrived. All I had to do was take a seat and start greeting people.
BP: How did the crowd react to you and your book?
LG: The response of the crowd at the event was positively overwhelming! There was a line of people excitedly waiting in anticipation of receiving a free copy of my book. The energy was off the charts and all of the copies of my book were gone before the end of the hour. And, in addition, all of the copies in the onsite Hay House Bookstore sold out by early afternoon on the first day of the event.
BP: What advice do you have for other authors who might be intimidated by book signings or the size of major events like ICDI?
LG: Miraculously, [my] fear and doubt transformed into passion and fulfillment. I can share with certainty that the book signing confirmed for me that I am on the right path, living my soul-guided life and empowering others to do the same. It was so life affirming! If I could give one piece of advice to other authors, it would be to take action today.
BP: The Jesus Seeds helps readers discover purpose in life. How did your professional background in business and psychology inform the advice you offer in the book?
LG: Being a spiritual seeker and life-long student, I have travelled the world studying religious and mystical traditions to uncover secrets to personal transformation. As a business executive for 30 years, I used the soul-journaling technique taught in The Jesus Seeds to guide me into living my authentic purpose as an author, teacher and speaker. I am living proof that igniting your soul-guided life will lead you step by step to unfurling your magnificence in the world. Through the interweaving of spiritual guidance with practical techniques, I am sharing a new conscious personal evolution model that empowers seekers to actualize changes in their lives.
BP: What ignited your own spiritual awakening?
LG: My spiritual awakening was ignited when my fiancé died from cancer. This unexpected plot twist plunged me into a deep abyss of depression that I could not climb out of for several years. On the night that I hit rock bottom, I heard the word “meditation” whispered in my ear. A series of synchronicities lead me to a mantra meditation technique that drew me slowly out of the darkness. I was guided to integrate a soul-journaling practice into my daily routine that changed my life forever.
BP: Any words of wisdom for fellow writers with a message?
LG: Step into your dreams and unleash your magnificent self on the world!
